Avoiding Polycarbonates
Posted in Bumkins, Green Scene on March 4th, 2009 by johanna – Comments OffHere are a few tips to reduce your exposure to BPA.
1. Avoid plastic containers with No. 7 on the bottom.
2. Use baby formula bottles made of glass or BPA-free plastic.
3. Buy foods that are fresh, frozen, or packaged in shelf-stable boxes instead of canned foods.
4. Cook and store foods in glass, porcelain, or stanless steel dishes.
5. Don’t microwave or wash polycarbonate plastic containers in the dishwasher. The heat and/or the detergent may cause the plastic to break down and release BPA.
